Making a website does require some money to keep online. But it is very useful in the alpaca business because not only can you sell you alpacas online with it, you can sell their fleece, possibly promote eggs if you have chickens or any other items you may want to sell.
Costs/Expenses:
Web Hosting (Puts your website on the internet) - $1.00 dollar a month! I use Sequence Hosting for my hosting company and they offer more space on the internet for your website than you would ever need if all you were planning on doing is having a website for your farm that was available just for people to see what your farm has to every every now and then. Click here to view Sequence hosting website.
Domain Name (www.yourfarmname.com) - About $9.00 dollars a year! I use NameCheap for my domain registration and all I pay is about 9 bucks a year, and I get free WhoisGuard protection (Keeps your information safe from spammers and others). Click here to get your domain name.
Web Design - This depends on who you want to design your website. If you can find a family, friend or nice person to design a website for you for free then go for it! Other than that, it can get expensive. I know very basic web design and can make a simple website for your farm if you would like for very little expense, just make sure it gets listed in my farm directory! Visit my website - www.jad-designs.com - and request a free quote and add a note in the beginning of the message that its for your farm / alpaca business and you were referred from alpaca avenue.
Thats basically the simple steps it takes to put a website for your farm on the internet!
