Alpacas are very fun and silly animals to watch. They have so much personality and when you have them all together its nice to just sit back and watch them play.
They use body movements as one of their main ways of communication, not just to each other but to predators and even to us.
The basic body expressions of an alpaca are being:
--Concerned/Focused - Ears back and focused on a target or area.
--Alert - They put there ears up and make their body stiff and alert.
--Relaxing - When they chew their cud and cush.
Other behaviors alpacas have are:
--Getting together in a group when one of the alpacas sound off an alert.
--Screaming during a fight or harsh event.
--Fighting with each other which includes spitting, kicking and biting.
If you have fiber boys and they are still younger, and you want to keep them calm, then you should think about gelding them so they stay calm and dont focus on wanting to breed and arent harmful to the other males.
If you notice your alpaca being aggressive, chasing after you, attacking you, then you should first try to consult the problem by contacting a trainer or another farm in your area and see if they have had this issue and what to do, or if its a male you can either geld them to see if that fixes the issue. There are different levels of aggression depending on the alpacas personality. So ask around, possibly a farm in your area has had the issue and will help you fix it.
