Supplies for alpacas/llamas can be purchased from companies on this list.
Alpacas do require some special equipment that doesnt require to much work to make, or even modify what you have with hardware cloth or just some wood.
First off it is important to have the correct gates and fencing to keep predators out, and your alpacas in.
You also need special or modified feeders for the weather and to keep them safe from poking an eye.
And a watering tub for them to have access to drinking water. It can either be a 5 gallon bucket if you only have 2 alpacas, or a big 25+ gallon tub if you are going to have a lot of alpacas and you dont want to be constantly filling the water.
If you plan on shearing your alpacas yourself, then you will need some nice livestock shears or even shears made just for alpacas. You will also either need to purchase an actual table for shearing, or use a nice piece of plywood and some other items laying around the property to make your own useful shearing table.
Other important equipment to have are:
--Halters and Lead ropes (Halter Training Info)
--Combs and Brushes (Alpaca Supply Companies)
--Livestock clippers for their toe nails
--Syringes & Needles for administering medicine if needed.
For traveling purposes you will need either a trailer, depending on how many alpacas you have, or just a tarp laid down in the back of your mini van.
When traveling, alpacas lay down, which is called Cushing, so if you only need to transport 2 or 3 alpacas just load them up in the mini van and off you go!
But if you have to transport possibly 5-10 alpacas than a horse trailer or flat bed truck with walls should work just fine.
